|lunaysol||09:09 pm - Film Festival For Fayetteville|
The president of the Fayetteville Art Guild (which is a member organization of Fayetteville's Art's Council: http://www.theartscouncil.com/links_member.html) and I are planning a film festival for Fayetteville. Right now it's in the early, early planning stages. We really want to figure out how much support there is out there, because if it's just the two of us working on it, there's no way it can get off the ground. So, I'm basically telling everyone I've ever met to tell everyone they've ever met! Network, network, network. The more people we can get to volunteer to help us--in their spare time, of course--the smoother I think (I hope!) it will go.
You don't have to be a filmmaker or artist to be involved, you just have to want to help.
So, if you are interested in being involved please comment on this page or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
It would really help me out if you could put Film Festival in the subject line; that way I can tell the difference between junk mail and your mail! Thanks.
Also, feel free to pass this information along to anyone who you think will be interested.

|lunaysol||09:57 am - Concerned Citizen|
I'm not sure how many people still look at this community, but I read an article in the newspaper today that made me really, really angry. Here are a couple articles from the newspapers archive to fill you in if you need it. here and here. So I just spent nearly an hour writing emails to the mayor, the city manager, and the police chief.
And this is basically what I wrote:
I have read the article in today's paper about the incident with the ticket given to Mrs. Knight which was voided. While it is nice to see people looking out for their friends it is repulsive that it is at the expense of justice. I find it hard to believe that being a friend of the mayor had no influence on the ticket being voided. I am aghast at the nerve it took to turn around and ticket Mr. Jones despite the statement given by the third driver.
It just goes to show you that money and power trumps justice in our society. I am very disappointed and disheartened by this incident. It's an insult to our great city. An insult to the people who voted for you, even though you ran unopposed. Shame on you Mr. Chavonne. Shame.
